Interior Demolition
Done Right.
Done Clean.
We tear out walls, floors, kitchens, bathrooms, and whatever else is in the way — safely, on schedule, and without trashing the rest of your building.
Boston's Go-To Interior Demo Team
Whether you're gutting a Beacon Hill brownstone, flipping a condo in the South End, or rebuilding a commercial space in the Seaport — the first step is a clean demo. That's where we come in.
We do the messy part so your contractor, architect, or general contractor can walk into a clean shell. No leftover debris. No surprise structural damage. No headaches.
Boston's older building stock — triple-deckers in Dorchester, brick buildings in Back Bay, mill conversions in Somerville — comes with its own set of challenges. We've seen it all. We know how to work around original hardwood, active utilities, tight access stairways, and next-door neighbors who really do not want construction dust in their unit.
- Safe asbestos and lead-paint coordination before any demo begins
- Work in occupied buildings without disrupting other tenants
- All debris hauled off-site — not left on your curb
- Serving Boston, Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline, Newton, Quincy, and beyond
Our Core Interior Demo Services
We handle the six most common interior demolition jobs across the Greater Boston area — residential, commercial, and mixed-use.
Full Interior Demolition
We strip a space down to the studs — walls, ceilings, floors, fixtures, and everything in between. This is the starting point for gut renovations in older Boston homes, loft conversions, and commercial buildouts. You get a clean, open shell ready for your contractor.
Get a Quote →Wall & Partition Removal
Opening up a floor plan is one of the most popular requests we get. We identify load-bearing vs. non-load-bearing walls before anything comes down. In South End condos and Cambridge two-families, this kind of work has to be precise — one wrong cut affects the whole building.
Get a Quote →Floor Removal & Subfloor Prep
Old tile, damaged hardwood, carpet over concrete, vinyl over plywood — floor removal sounds simple until you're under it. We pull up flooring without wrecking the subfloor below, so your installer has a flat, clean surface to start from. Especially tricky in Charlestown rowhouses with original pine boards.
Get a Quote →Kitchen & Bathroom Demo
Kitchens and bathrooms are the most complex rooms to demo. Plumbing, electrical, tile, cabinetry, and sometimes mold or water damage all have to be handled in the right order. We work around your plumber and electrician's schedule so the whole job keeps moving.
Get a Quote →Selective Demolition
Sometimes you only need to remove part of a space — a single wall, a drop ceiling, one section of flooring. Selective demo is a precise job. You can't swing a sledgehammer and hope for the best. We protect what stays while removing exactly what needs to go.
Get a Quote →Concrete Breaking & Removal
Basement slabs, concrete partitions, and old masonry foundations show up constantly in Greater Boston's older building stock. We use jackhammers, saws, and core drilling equipment to break and remove concrete cleanly — even in tight basement spaces in Jamaica Plain or Roxbury.

These are the situations we run into most often on Boston-area jobs. None of them are deal-breakers — they just have to be handled the right way.
Mold Behind Walls & Under Floors
Boston's winters are rough on older buildings. Ice dams, small roof leaks, and bad bathroom ventilation lead to hidden mold. We don't just knock down the wall — we document what we find so your remediation crew knows exactly what they're walking into.
Load-Bearing Walls in Open-Plan Conversions
Every week someone wants to open up a kitchen in a Fenway or Allston triple-decker. We work with your structural engineer to confirm what's carrying load before we remove anything. Skipping this step has collapsed ceilings. We don't skip it.
Asbestos & Lead Paint in Pre-1980s Buildings
A huge percentage of Boston's housing stock was built before 1978. That means lead paint, and in many cases asbestos in floor tiles, pipe insulation, or ceiling texture. We coordinate with certified abatement contractors before demo starts — not after.
Water Damage & Rotted Framing
Old plumbing fails. Basements flood. Roofs leak for years before anyone notices. When we open up a wall and find water-damaged framing, we stop, photograph it, and bring it to the GC's attention so it gets fixed properly before the new work goes in.
Knob-and-Tube or Outdated Wiring
In Back Bay and Beacon Hill, knob-and-tube wiring is still inside the walls of buildings that haven't been touched in 50 years. Demo work requires identifying live wiring before any cutting happens. We always flag what we find for your electrician.
Tight Access in Urban Buildings
Boston rowhouses and mid-rise condos don't have wide hallways or freight elevators. Getting heavy materials out — tile, concrete, old cabinetry — without wrecking the common areas is a real logistical challenge. We plan debris removal routes before day one.
Types of Materials We Remove
Interior demo is not one-size-fits-all. Different materials need different tools, different disposal methods, and different levels of care.
Drywall & Plaster
Standard drywall removal is fast. Plaster-on-lath walls — common in older Boston homes — take longer and create more dust and debris. Both are fully handled.
Drop Ceilings & Ceiling Tile
Suspended grid ceilings in offices and commercial spaces come down quickly. Older ceiling tiles may require testing for asbestos before removal.
Hardwood, Tile & Vinyl Flooring
Each floor type has a specific removal method. Some hardwood can be salvaged. Tile goes to debris. Vinyl needs careful handling if it's an older product.
Bathroom Fixtures & Tile
Tubs, toilets, vanities, ceramic tile — we disconnect, demo, and remove everything. Your plumber caps the pipes. We handle the rest.
Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops
Cabinets can sometimes be salvaged for donation. Countertops — granite, laminate, tile — all come out. The walls get prepped for your new kitchen.
Concrete Slabs & Masonry
Basement slabs, block walls, and old brick partitions need jackhammering and core drilling. Heavy debris gets removed by hand-truck through whatever access is available.
Metal Framing & Steel Partitions
Commercial office buildouts often use metal stud framing. It comes out fast but requires cutting equipment and careful handling of fire-rated assemblies.
Insulation & Building Materials
Fiberglass batts, rigid foam, spray foam — all removed cleanly. Older vermiculite or blown-in insulation may require testing before we touch it.

How Long Does Interior Demo Take?
Demo is usually the fastest phase of any renovation — if it's planned properly. Here's what to expect.
Single Bathroom
Full fixture and tile removal in a standard Boston bathroom, debris removed same day.
Full Kitchen Demo
Cabinets, counters, flooring, and wall tile down. Plumbing and electrical flagged for your subs.
Condo or Apartment Gut
Full interior demo of a 1–3 bedroom unit from walls to floors to fixtures.
Commercial Space
Depends on square footage, access, and phasing requirements. We build a schedule before we start.
Our 5-Step Demo Process
Same process on every job. It's what keeps things safe and keeps the project on schedule.
Free Site Walk & Written Quote
We come to your site — anywhere from the North End to Newton — and walk the space with you. We ask about your renovation plan, check for any hazardous materials concerns, and give you a written quote before we leave. No vague estimates. No phone-only pricing.
Hazardous Material Screening
For any building built before 1980, we flag any materials that need testing — asbestos tile, lead paint, old pipe insulation. If abatement is needed, we coordinate with a certified contractor before our demo crew arrives. You don't have to manage two separate vendors.
Utility Disconnection & Protection
Water off. Electricity isolated to the demo zone. Gas flagged. Adjacent spaces — neighboring units, hallways, mechanical rooms — get plastic sheeting and temporary protection so dust and debris stay contained. This step saves a lot of awkward conversations with your neighbors.
Demolition
The actual work. Walls come down. Floors come up. Fixtures get pulled. We work in the sequence your GC needs so each trade can follow right behind us. Everything that's being removed gets staged for same-day or next-day haul-out.
Debris Removal & Site Handoff
We load everything out. All debris gets disposed of or recycled properly — not dumped in someone else's dumpster or left on the street. Before we hand the space back to you, we do a final walkthrough to confirm the scope is complete and the site is clean and safe for your next crew.
Preventive Planning & Maintenance Programs
Interior demo isn't something most homeowners think about until they're already mid-project. But for property managers, developers, and landlords with multiple units in Boston, having a plan ahead of time saves real money.
We work with property management companies across Dorchester, Roxbury, Allston, and the South End on a recurring basis. When you know a unit is coming up for renovation, we can pre-schedule the demo window so your contractor can start on day one — not day five after waiting for demo to wrap up.
We also do pre-renovation assessments for buildings where the renovation timeline is still 6–12 months out. We walk the space, flag any hazardous material concerns, and give you a written scope so there are no surprises when the work starts.
Pre-Scheduled Demo for Multi-Unit Properties
Lock in your demo dates before renovation season starts. Spring and fall are our busiest times in Boston — early booking keeps your project on track.
Pre-Renovation Hazardous Material Assessments
We walk the property months before demo starts and document any asbestos, lead, or water damage concerns so you can budget and plan properly.
Preferred Contractor Relationships
Property managers and developers who work with us regularly get priority scheduling, consistent crews, and competitive rates on repeat work.
Responsible Material Disposal
For large or ongoing projects, we track where demo debris goes — recycling, donation, or disposal — and provide documentation for LEED or green building certifications.
